About the Department

"In the process of "Grow More Food Programme" and "Green Revolutions", more importance was given to the Agricultural Engineering activities for increasing the agricultural production. With this objective, the Agricultural Engineering wing formed in 2014 as a new Department.

The department also aspires to the development of scientific research in order to improve teaching quality, to enrich staff knowledge and to prepare students for pursuing further studies at the post graduate level. The department offers a four-year Bachelors course in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with an annual intake of 60. All the faculty members in the Department are post graduates. In the year 2013, we extended our department to a PG level by introduced M.Tech program.

Vision

To establish a centre of excellence in basic sciences such as Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry which provide foundation for engineering studies and also in communication skills that helps students to express themselves effectively and to create proficient engineers who can be globally challenged in engineering fundamentals – experimental, analytical, computational and designing abilities.

Mission

  • Keeping the core objectives to create academic excellence in fundamental sciences, the Department of Science and Humanities aims to encourage advanced teaching learning process and quality research at individual, department and institutional level. It also endeavours to build quality based knowledge and human resource capacity.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

  • Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyse complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences
  • Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  • Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  • Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
  • Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development .

Facilities

The Basic Science and Humanities Department is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, demonstrating a commitment to providing students with excellent, well-spaced, and highly ventilated laboratories tailored for both Science and Humanities disciplines. The pride in our facilities lies in their capacity to offer an immersive learning environment.
